In today’s world of AI tools and tech solutions, there are so many options available to business owners. Each one comes with its own bells, whistles, and promises to save time and make life easier. But when I think about what makes Wordsmith different, it’s not just the features we offer. It’s something much deeper than that—something personal.

The truth is, Wordsmith isn’t just another AI tool that popped up overnight. It’s the result of years of dreaming, creating, and pouring my heart into building something that I knew could truly help business owners like you. And today, I want to take you behind the scenes to share why Wordsmith means so much to me, and more importantly, how it can help you.

It Started with a Love for Writing

Let me take you back to where it all began. I’ve always had a love for writing. For as long as I can remember, words have felt like an extension of who I am. When I started my own business, writing became one of my favorite parts of running it. Whether it was crafting heartfelt newsletters or diving deep into blog posts, writing was where I felt most connected to my audience.

But social media? That was another story. Writing short, bite-sized posts that somehow needed to grab attention, connect, and convert—it always felt a little forced to me. And I knew I wasn’t alone. Time and time again, I heard from fellow business owners who struggled with showing up online. Whether it was social media, their blog, or sending regular emails, the common thread was always the same: I just don’t know what to say.

That’s where the idea for Wordsmith began. I wanted to build something that would solve my own problem. Even as someone who loved writing, social media captions felt like a struggle, and I knew I could create something for myself and others that would make it easier to show up online.

A Solution Built with Heart

When I first launched Wordsmith, AI wasn’t even part of the conversation. Back then, it was just me—one person writing monthly content plans by hand, creating fill-in-the-blank templates to help business owners show up authentically. Learning how to take my love for writing long-form content and turning it into bite-sized captions.

Wordsmith: The Tool I Built for Business Owners Like You

I knew the pain points because I’d experienced them myself. The overwhelm of trying to figure out what to post. The fear of not sounding professional (or personal) enough. The frustration of staring at a blank screen, wondering if your words would ever feel “good enough.”

As someone who’s run my own business and sold a range of products, I’ve always understood what kind of content it takes to connect with an audience. Wordsmith started as a way to share that knowledge, to help others skip the guesswork and show up in the best way possible.

Then Came AI—and Everything Changed

When AI started gaining traction, I saw an opportunity to take Wordsmith to the next level. Suddenly, it wasn’t just about creating content faster—it was about creating content that felt more you.

With AI, we could do more than just churn out generic captions. We could create personalized, on-brand content that reflected the unique voice of each business owner. It was a game-changer, not because of the technology itself, but because of how we could use it to help business owners tell their stories in a way that felt authentic.

But here’s the thing: Wordsmith isn’t just another tech company jumping on the AI bandwagon. At its core, it’s still about everything I’ve always loved—writing, connecting, and helping others share their message. It’s a tool built by someone who gets what it’s like to run a business and who understands the importance of showing up in a way that feels real.

Why Wordsmith Stands Out

There are plenty of AI tools out there, so why choose Wordsmith? Because it’s not just about creating beautiful content faster. It’s about creating content that connects. It’s about:

  • Authenticity: Wordsmith helps you share your story in a way that feels true to you.

  • Connection: Every piece of content you create with Wordsmith is designed to help you build deeper relationships with your audience.

And perhaps most importantly, Wordsmith is built on a foundation of heart and experience. It’s not a faceless tech company—it’s me, and my team, pouring everything we have into helping you succeed.

It’s Personal

For me, Wordsmith isn’t just a product. It’s a reflection of everything I’ve learned and loved about running my own business. It’s a tool that I wish I’d had when I was starting out—something to make content creation feel less overwhelming and more fun.

And it’s not just about what Wordsmith can do. It’s about what it represents: the belief that your story matters, that your voice deserves to be heard, and that you have something truly special to share with the world.

The “Let’s Clear the Confusion” Content Prompt

Content Prompt: “Here’s the deal: [common industry misconception] is keeping you stuck. The truth? [correct information]. With [your service], you’ll finally have the clarity you need to [specific benefit]. Let’s make things simple.”

Copywriting Formula: Myth-Busting

You know those myths that just won’t die? The ones that leave your audience spinning their wheels, stuck in the same place? This week’s prompt is all about clearing up the confusion. The Myth-Busting formula is your go-to for calling out those misconceptions, setting the record straight, and showing your audience how your service is the clarity they’ve been looking for.

Here’s the breakdown:

  1. Myth: Call out the big misunderstanding. Don’t hold back—say it like it is.
  2. Truth: Drop the knowledge. Replace the myth with facts that are clear, actionable, and empowering.
  3. Solution: Now’s your moment to shine. Show how your service bridges the gap and brings clarity to their lives.
  4. Call to Action: Wrap it up with an invitation to take action. Make it simple and irresistible.

Why it works: When you bust myths, you position yourself as a trusted guide. You’re not just offering a service—you’re providing clarity, building trust, and giving your audience a reason to say, “Finally, someone gets it!”

Wordsmith Instructions

Write a post that clears up a common misconception in your industry. Share the correct information, explain how your service provides clarity, and end with a CTA that invites readers to take action.

How to Use This Prompt

Here’s how to bring the “Let’s Clear the Confusion” prompt to life:

  1. Start with the myth. Shine a light on the misconception that’s keeping your audience stuck. Be bold and straightforward.
  2. Share the truth. Offer clear, easy-to-understand information that replaces the myth. Your audience should feel a sigh of relief reading this part.
  3. Connect the dots. Explain how your service is the missing piece they’ve been searching for—the thing that finally makes it all make sense.
  4. End with a CTA. Encourage them to take the next step. Make it sound simple and doable (because it is!).

Information Needed About Your Business

To make this prompt shine, you’ll need to get clear on a few things:

  • What’s the big misconception in your industry? Think about the myths that leave your audience confused or stuck.
  • What’s the truth? What’s the real story? Share facts that feel empowering and actionable.
  • How does your service provide clarity? Highlight the ways your service clears up confusion and makes life easier for your audience.
  • What’s the benefit of that clarity? Paint a picture of the transformation they’ll experience once they see the truth.
  • What’s their next step? Spell it out—what action should they take right now?

When you have these answers ready, your post will hit home and inspire your audience to take action.

The “No More Guesswork” ContenPrompt

Content Prompt: “Feeling stuck trying to figure out [specific problem]? With [your service], you can skip the guesswork and start seeing results. I’ll show you exactly how to [specific solution]. Let’s get started!”

Copywriting Formula: Problem-Solution

Let’s be honest—there’s nothing more frustrating than feeling stuck, spinning your wheels, and getting nowhere. The Problem-Solution formula gets straight to the heart of that frustration. It starts by saying, “Hey, I see you. I get it.” Then it offers a way forward—a clear, actionable solution that makes everything feel possible again.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Problem: Start by naming the struggle your audience is facing. Show them you understand their challenges and how hard it’s been.
  2. Solution: Now, here’s where you bring the light! Show them how your service solves that problem. Make it clear, simple, and doable.
  3. Call to Action: Finish by inviting them to take action—whether it’s signing up, booking a call, or trying your product. Let them know you’re ready to help them move forward.

Why it works: When your audience sees that you understand their struggle and have the solution, you build trust. And trust? It’s the secret sauce that makes them say, “Yes, I’m ready to do this.”

Wordsmith Instructions

Write a [blog post, social media caption, newsletter etc.] that highlights a specific problem your audience faces and shows how your service solves it. Use clear, actionable language and end with a CTA that invites them to stop guessing and start making progress. [Then enter the content prompt from above].

How to Use This Prompt

Here’s how to make the “No More Guesswork” prompt your own:

  1. Start with empathy. Begin your post by naming the frustration your audience feels. Let them know you understand what they’re going through.
  2. Present the solution. Show them how your service is the answer they’ve been looking for. Use clear, relatable language that makes it easy to see the value.
  3. Make it actionable. Give them a step to take right now—whether it’s clicking a link, signing up, or booking a call. Keep it simple and inviting.
  4. End with encouragement. Remind them that progress is possible and that you’re here to help every step of the way.

Information Needed About Your Business

To make this prompt work like magic, get clear on these details:

  • What specific problem does your audience struggle with? Think about the challenges that keep them up at night.
  • How does your service solve that problem? Highlight what makes your approach unique and effective.
  • What transformation can they expect? Paint a picture of what life looks like after working with you.
  • What’s the next step they should take? Be clear and direct about how they can get started.

How Sarah Transformed Her Business with Wordsmith

Meet Sarah. She loved running her business—she was passionate about her work and adored her clients. But when it came to showing up online to attract new clients? That was another story.

Sarah often found herself staring at a blinking cursor, feeling the pressure to come up with something clever or engaging to post.

The truth? It was easier not to say anything at all.

She didn’t know what to share, how to sound authentic, or how to actually attract the kinds of clients she dreamed of working with. And honestly? I get it. Sarah was amazing at connecting with people face-to-face—her clients loved her, and her passion for what she did was so clear when you met her in person. But when it came to the online stuff, she felt completely lost. Social media, her newsletter, her blog—they all kind of fell by the wayside. Not because she didn’t care, but because every time she sat down to write, she felt stuck.

Taking the First Step

One day, a friend mentioned Wordsmith, raving about how it had completely transformed their content strategy. Sarah figured, Why not? She signed up, not really expecting much, but hopeful it might help her get a handle on her content and give her a ilttle direction.

When Sarah logged in for the first time, she was blown away. Not only did she see captions that were ready to be posted, but for the first time, she could visualize what a fully planned month of content would look like. As a big-picture thinker, I’ve always believed in creating a long-term strategy for business success. When it comes to my business, I thrive on thinking ahead. I love mapping out where I want to go and creating a plan to get there.

That mindset is something I built right into Wordsmith. And it’s something a lot of my clients love, especially those who aren’t naturally drawn to thinking so far ahead.

For people like Sarah, who preferred to focus on the day-to-day, having that year-long overview was a revelation. She could finally see how all the small pieces came together to form a cohesive strategy. It wasn’t just about posting for the sake of posting anymore; it was about sharing with intention and working toward a larger goal. She could see how all the pieces fit together and how each post and email worked toward a bigger goal. Suddenly, content creation felt purposeful and exciting instead of overwhelming.

The Moment It All Clicked

Suddenly, it made so much sense. The idea of posting on the go or waiting for inspiration to strike? That was left in the past. For Sarah, having a clear plan—with captions that felt professional yet authentic—was a game-changer.

She could see how everything connected: how her social media posts could lead to more inquiries, how her emails could nurture relationships, and how a consistent online presence could establish her as a go-to expert in her field. For the first time, she wasn’t just winging it—she had an actual strategy.

Sarah started using Wordsmith’s captions and templates right away, customizing them to reflect her voice. The best part? She didn’t have to do it alone. Wordsmith’s tools made it easy to plug in her ideas, tweak the language, and make everything feel like her.

Here’s what Sarah had to say:

“Before Wordsmith, I felt so overwhelmed by the idea of content creation. I knew I needed to show up online, but I had no idea what to say or how to say it. Wordsmith changed everything. The captions and content plans gave me structure and confidence, and for the first time, I actually enjoyed creating content. My business feels more aligned, and I’m connecting with the right clients—the ones I’ve always wanted to work with.”

Why Wordsmith Works

Sarah’s story isn’t unique—and that’s exactly why Wordsmith was created. It’s not about reinventing the wheel or spending hours crafting the perfect caption. It’s about giving business owners the tools they need to share their message authentically and strategically.

With Wordsmith, you don’t have to start from scratch. You get access to:

  • Professionally written captions that sound authentic and approachable.
  • Monthly content calendars to help you plan with purpose.
  • A bird’s-eye view of an entire year of content strategy.

And the best part? It all feels doable—because it is.

Simplify Your Marketing and Get Better Results

You don’t need to be everywhere, doing everything, to see real results in your business. In fact, trying to do too much might be the very thing holding you back. I know, it feels counterintuitive—more marketing should mean more results, right? But here’s the truth: less really can be more.

Simplifying your marketing doesn’t mean sacrificing your impact. It means focusing on what works, cutting out what doesn’t, and showing up with intention. Let’s talk about how to streamline your marketing efforts without losing momentum.

Step 1: Get Crystal Clear on Your Goals

Before you simplify your marketing, you need to know what you’re working toward. Are you trying to grow your email list? Boost website traffic? Increase sales? The clearer you are on your goals, the easier it will be to figure out which marketing efforts are worth your time—and which ones aren’t.

Ask yourself:

  • What’s my #1 priority right now?
  • Where do my best leads or clients currently come from?
  • Which marketing channels bring the most results?

Once you know your goals, you can start cutting back on the things that don’t serve them.

Step 2: Focus on the Platforms That Matter

You don’t need to be on every social media platform to build a successful business. It’s okay to not be everywhere. Instead, focus on the platforms where your audience actually spends their time.

For example:

  • If your ideal clients love scrolling Instagram, focus your energy there.
  • If you’re a service-based business, LinkedIn might be where you shine.
  • Pinterest is perfect for driving long-term website traffic.

Give yourself permission to let go of platforms that aren’t delivering results. It’s better to show up consistently on one or two platforms than to be spread thin across five.

Step 3: Repurpose Your Content

Work smarter, not harder. Instead of creating new content from scratch every day, start repurposing what you already have.

Here’s how:

  • Turn a blog post into an email newsletter.
  • Break a long video into short social media clips.
  • Use an Instagram caption as the basis for a LinkedIn post.

Your audience isn’t seeing everything you post, so don’t be afraid to reuse your best content. It’s not about doing more—it’s about making the most of what you’ve already done.

Step 4: Automate Where You Can

Automation isn’t about replacing the human touch; it’s about freeing up your time so you can focus on what really matters.

Here are a few ways to simplify your marketing through automation:

  • Schedule your social media posts in advance.
  • Set up email sequences to nurture new subscribers.
  • Use a CRM to manage client communication.

When you automate repetitive tasks, you have more time to engage with your audience in meaningful ways.

Step 5: Simplify Your Messaging

One of the biggest mistakes I see entrepreneurs make is overcomplicating their messaging. Your audience doesn’t need to know everything about your business upfront. They need to know how you can help them.

Simplify your messaging by focusing on these key points:

  • Who you are.
  • What you offer.
  • How it helps your audience.

Keep it clear, concise, and consistent across all your marketing channels. When your message is simple and easy to understand, it resonates more deeply.

Step 6: Batch Your Work

Batching your marketing tasks can save you hours each week. Instead of switching between tasks constantly, dedicate specific blocks of time to focus on one type of work.

For example:

  • Write all your Instagram captions for the week in one sitting.
  • Record multiple videos in one session.
  • Plan your email newsletters for the month in advance.

When you batch your work, you’re not starting from scratch every day. You’ll be amazed at how much more you can accomplish in less time.

Step 7: Track What Works (and Let Go of What Doesn’t)

You don’t need to do everything. You just need to do what works.

Take time to review your analytics and see which marketing efforts are bringing in the most results. Once you know what’s working, double down on those strategies—and let go of the rest.

Here’s what to track:

  • Which social media posts get the most engagement?
  • Which emails have the highest open rates?
  • Which blog posts drive the most traffic?

Simplifying your marketing isn’t about doing less for the sake of it. It’s about doing more of what works and cutting out what doesn’t.

Step 8: Embrace Progress Over Perfection

Here’s your permission slip to stop aiming for perfection. Your marketing doesn’t need to be perfect—it needs to be real. Your audience connects with authenticity far more than polished perfection.

Done is better than perfect. Showing up is better than not showing up at all.

The Big Takeaway: Less Really Can Be More

Simplifying your marketing doesn’t mean sacrificing your results. It means getting intentional about where you show up, how you show up, and what you share.

Focus on what moves the needle. Let go of what doesn’t. And remember—your audience doesn’t need you everywhere. They just need you here, showing up in a way that feels real, intentional, and aligned with your goals.

When you simplify your marketing, you create space to do what you love, serve your audience, and grow your business without the overwhelm. And isn’t that what we’re all after?

I’m Running a Marathon (and I Can’t Believe I’m Saying That)

Did I just Google “how long is a marathon”? Yes. Yes, I did. Because somehow, I’ve decided that running a marathon (that’s 26.2 miles for those like me who didn’t know) in Honolulu sounds like a great idea, even for someone who’s only ever managed to run five miles—on a really good day.

Let’s be clear: I’m not a runner. The only running I do regularly involves chasing my two little ones around the house or racing to the kitchen before my coffee gets cold. But here I am, putting this wild goal out into the universe. I’m planning to run a marathon, and I can’t believe I’m saying that.

So, why this goal? Why now? Let me tell ya.

Choosing to Do Something Just for Me

As a mom of four, most of my attention goes toward raising and homeschooling my kids. I run my business from home, which gives me a ton of flexibility, but it also means that my personal time is practically non-existent. My days are a juggling act of lesson plans, family time, snack requests, and laundry—so much laundry.

Somewhere along the way, I stopped making time to do things just for me. And if you’re a parent, you probably know exactly what I mean. It’s easy to get lost in the needs of everyone else and forget that we deserve a little slice of our own time and energy, too. Back in my early business days, when I was working as a photographer, most of my weekends required me to travel to new locations for weddings and sessions. Although it was technically work, it often felt like a fun weekend getaway—a chance to do something on my own and explore new places. I didn’t realize at the time how important that solo time was for me.

Running a marathon is my way of claiming that space for myself. It’s a commitment to me. It’s a reminder that I’m allowed to set big goals that have nothing to do with being a mom or running a business.

And honestly? It feels empowering to choose something this big and audacious.

My Love for Unrealistic Goals

I have this weird obsession with setting really unrealistic goals and then figuring out how to make them happen. Running a business has always felt a lot like that—setting big dreams, making a plan, and just trusting that I’ll figure it out along the way.

Running a marathon feels exactly the same.

Right now, I can’t run more than five miles without feeling like my lungs might give out. But I’m not worried about where I am today—I’m focused on where I could be a few months from now. Because if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that big goals push us in the right direction, even if they feel impossible at first.

How many times do we stop ourselves from going after something because we think, “I could never do that”? What if we flipped the narrative and thought, “I can’t do that yet but I’m willing to try”?

That’s the mindset I’m taking into this marathon journey. I may not be able to run 26.2 miles today, but I’m showing up for future me—the one who will cross that finish line in Honolulu.

I’m Not a Runner (But I’m Trying Anyway)

Let’s be real—running is hard. At the moment, running three miles feels like a challenge. I’m not someone who naturally loves to run, and the idea of running more than five miles? I honestly can’t imagine it.

When I say, “I’m not a runner,” I mean it. I’m the mom who runs after her kids, not someone who laces up their sneakers every morning for a quick jog.

But the beauty of setting a goal like running a marathon is that it forces you to grow into the kind of person who can do it. I’m not a runner yet, but by the time December rolls around, I hope I will be.

Accountability and Consistency

One of the main reasons I wanted to commit to this marathon is to motivate myself to become more consistent in working out.

I’ve always struggled with sticking to a workout routine. I’d have good weeks where I’d show up consistently, followed by weeks where I’d fall off the wagon completely. I needed a reason to show up—something to hold me accountable.

Signing up for a marathon gives me that reason. If I don’t put in the work, the only person I’m letting down is myself. And having to run a marathon is for sure going to be a terrible experience. There’s no hiding from that.

Consistency is key when it comes to training, and I hope this goal helps me stay accountable even on the days when I don’t feel like showing up. Because let’s be honest—there are going to be plenty of those days.

Why Honolulu? Why NOT Honolulu Hawaii?!

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I have a deep love for Hawaii. I’ve lived in both Maui and Oahu, and those islands will always hold a special place in my heart.

When I started thinking about running a marathon, I knew I wanted to choose one that felt meaningful. The Honolulu Marathon felt like the perfect fit—a way to return to a place I love, while rewarding myself at the end of the year for sticking with my training plan. Plus, since it’s in December it gives me the most amount of time to train.

Plus, if you’re going to run 26.2 miles, you might as well do it in paradise, right?

Getting Personal

This space on my blog is typically filled with business tips and marketing strategies, but I hope to share more of my health journey here, too. It feels a little vulnerable to show up in this way, but I want to be real about the ups and downs of this experience. Life isn’t just about business goals—it’s about personal ones, too.

I’m equal parts excited and terrified. There’s a voice in my head saying, “You’re crazy for even trying,” but there’s a louder voice reminding me that I’ve done hard things before—and I can do this, too.

So, here’s to running a marathon, showing up for myself, and doing things that feel impossible.

The Power of Storytelling in Your Business

Let’s start with a truth bomb: STORIES SELL. No matter what you do—whether you’re a photographer capturing life’s milestones, a coach helping women find clarity, or a shop owner selling handmade treasures——the secret to making real connections with your audience is storytelling.

The truth is, people don’t buy products or services; they buy feelings, connections, and experiences. They buy into you. And the best way to build that connection? Through storytelling.

Let’s break down why storytelling is so powerful, how to make it feel natural (not awkward!), and how you can start weaving your unique story into your business today.

Why Storytelling Works

Humans are wired for stories. Think about it: since the beginning of time, stories have been how we pass down wisdom, teach lessons, and connect with one another. Our brains light up when we hear a good story. It’s why you remember a friend’s hilarious vacation mishap more than a dry business pitch.

In marketing, storytelling taps into that same part of the brain. It builds trust, evokes emotions, and makes your brand memorable.

Here’s how storytelling works for your business:

It makes you relatable. People want to work with someone they trust. Sharing your story—your why, your struggles, your journey—makes you feel human and approachable.

It builds emotional connections. Facts tell; stories sell. Emotions drive buying decisions. When your audience feels something, they’re more likely to take action.

It differentiates you. Your story is your secret sauce. It’s the one thing no one else can copy. It’s what makes your brand unique in a crowded market.

How to Tell Your Story Without Feeling Cringe

Okay, I hear you: “But Elena, I don’t want to be one of those people oversharing on the internet.”

I get it. There’s a fine line between storytelling and oversharing. The key is to share stories that feel authentic and relevant to your audience’s experience.

Here’s a simple framework to help:

  1. Share Your “Why”

Your audience doesn’t just want to know what you do—they want to know why you do it. Why did you start your business? What problem were you trying to solve? What impact do you hope to make?

Sharing your why makes your mission relatable and inspiring.

Example:

“I started my business because I was tired of seeing other women entrepreneurs burn out trying to do it all. I wanted to create tools that simplify content creation and help women show up online without sacrificing their sanity.”

  1. Get Personal (But try and stay relevant)

Your stories should have a purpose. Share moments from your life that relate to your business’s mission. It could be a challenge you overcame, a lesson you learned, or a pivotal moment that shaped your journey. * Staying relevant isn’t always a must…more on that writing technique on another day!

Example:

“There was a time when I felt stuck, staring at my computer screen with no idea what to post. I realized it wasn’t about being perfect—it was about being real. That’s when I started creating weekly content prompts to make showing up easier for myself and my community.”

  1. Make It About Them

Your audience should always see themselves in your story. It’s not just about you; it’s about how your story resonates with them.

Ask yourself:

  • What does my audience need to hear?
  • How does my story offer hope or encouragement?
  • What lesson can they take away from my experience?

The Types of Stories You Should Tell

Wondering what kind of stories to share? Here are a few ideas to get you started:

  1. Origin Story

Every business has a beginning. Share yours! How did you start? What challenges did you face? What keeps you going?

Example:

“When I started my business, I was a full-time stay-at-home mom with big dreams of building something that allowed me to work from home and live the life I loved—even when the world kept telling me it wasn’t possible. I took a leap of faith, pushed through the doubt, and created a business that gives me the freedom and flexibility I once thought was out of reach.”

  1. Client Transformation Story

Showcase how your product or service has made a difference in someone’s life. Share the before-and-after of a client experience.

Example:

“When Sarah came to me, she was overwhelmed by content creation. After using my prompts and tools, she told me she finally felt seen and heard by her audience—and she tripled her engagement in just one month.”

  1. “I’ve Been There” Story

Empathy builds trust. Share a story about a time you struggled with the same challenges your audience is facing.

Example:

“I know how it feels to think, ‘Why would anyone care about what I have to say?’ But once I started showing up authentically, my business transformed. And yours can too.”

How to Share Your Stories (Without the Overwhelm)

Feeling overwhelmed at the thought of sharing more stories? Here’s the good news: you don’t have to reinvent the wheel. Your stories can be repurposed across different platforms.

Here’s how to do it:

  • Social Media Posts: Share snippets of your story with a powerful opening line to hook your audience.
  • Blog Posts: Dive deeper into your stories to build trust and provide value.
  • Email Newsletters: Use storytelling to connect with your subscribers and keep them engaged.
  • About Page: Make sure your website tells your brand story in a compelling way.

The Future of Wordsmith: AI-powered Content

When I first launched Wordsmith, it was born out of my love for writing and my desire to help others show up online. I witnessed firsthand how people struggled to express the things that mattered most to them, often holding back because they didn’t know how to connect their ideas with an audience that would truly value what they had to say.

Over time, the world changed. AI made its entrance, and seemingly overnight, there were new tools everywhere, each promising to revolutionize how we create content.

I waited. I didn’t want to rush into something that wouldn’t genuinely serve the Wordsmith community. If we were going to implement AI, it had to go deeper than what others were offering.

The Power of Personalization

One of the top requests I’ve heard from Wordsmith clients is the need for more personalized content. While they love the prewritten captions and content prompts, many wanted something that felt truly tailored to their voice and audience.

With over 11,000 members, it became clear that offering this level of customization by myself was simply not possible. But with the help of AI? Suddenly, it is.

AI allows me to deliver personalized, high-quality content that feels like it was made just for you and your audience. Over the last few months, I’ve been working quietly behind the scenes to perfect something special—a way to blend the power of AI with the heart of what makes your business unique.

My goal isn’t to create another cookie-cutter AI writing tool. I’m creating something far more personal.

What to Expect from Wordsmith’s Biggest Update

Imagine content so aligned with your voice, it feels like an extension of your thoughts, your vision, and your brand. Copy so good, you’d swear it was written by a human. That’s what I’ve been building for Wordsmith.

In the coming weeks, we’ll be rolling out our biggest update yet. Whether you’ve been a member from the start or are considering joining now, there’s so much goodness on the horizon, and I can’t wait for you to be part of it.

This update will transform the way you create content, giving you AI-enhanced, personalized copy that helps you stand out and truly connect with your audience.

Here’s to embracing the beauty of change—both in the seasons and in business.

Instagram Error: ACCOUNT NOT FOUND

Imagine this: you try to log in to your Instagram account, and you see this error message “INSTAGRAM: ACCOUNT NOT FOUND”. Instagram is NOT working. What do you do?

In 2021…that was the reality facing 70% of businesses that rely on social media to stay in touch with their customers. Millions of users logged into Instagram that morning only to see the message “page not found”. I’m sure you remember when Facebook crashed and took Instagram, Messenger, and Whatsapp down with it.

INSTAGRAM NOT WORKING

Between 11:40 AM and 6:30 PM, social media was simply…gone. No explanation, no way for us to access our own accounts.

In those 7 hours, Facebook lost tens of millions of dollars, but it was a huge wake-up call for us small business owners. Because it’s not a matter of “if” that will happen again. It’s when. And that’s why it’s crucial to the survival of your business in this “new internet age” that you move your customer list to a platform you 100% control, such as email.

WHY YOU NEED A BETTER PLAN

Social media is an amazing tool, but as small business owners, we need to protect ourselves so that we don’t go from having a thriving business to being closed overnight. Now, I know that may sound terrifying, and unfortunately, it is the reality when you build your business dependent on social media with no real way to get that audience on a list you own.

You probably already feel the hardship of using social media for your business when you find yourself struggling to reach your audience organically. How I Make an Income + a Pretty Amazing Impact

Have you ever met someone and thought to yourself…”I know she has a business and doing really well, but what exactly does she do…and how does she actually make an income?!” In this article, I’m going to pull back the curtains and tell you all about my business, how I make an income (and a pretty amazing impact too).

I was talking to a friend and found that although she knew I had a business (for a long time now). She had no idea how I actually made an income and how I got my business to where it is today. I loved that she came out and just asked me more about what I was doing with my business, how I was making an income, and how it all came together. (SPOILER: My business is FAR from where it used to be).

As we finished my conversation, I thought about how maybe others had the same curious questions but just didn’t know how to ask. Which I totally get. I remember when I started my business how little I knew about business structure and all the different incomes you could make. I didn’t even know passive income was a thing since all I knew was the very simple concept of working for an hourly wage.

HOW I MAKE AN INCOME (AND IMPACT)

I thought what I did was pretty clear, but maybe it’s just like that because I’ve lived it for 10+ years. So for the sake of being transparent and pulling back the curtains to those who might be wondering the same thing, here’s everything you ever wanted to know about how I make an income (and a pretty amazing impact too). Over the years, my business has changed, and so has the strategy behind how I make an income. Below I’ll go over everything you might be wondering about. And hopefully, it gives you some ideas on adding these types of income streams to your own business too.

SERVICE BASED BUSINESS

AS A PHOTOGRAPHER

I started as a photographer, which is probably the most simple income to explain. Clients hired me for a service. As much as I loved this little business I built, the one downfall was the time I had to spend away from my family. Shooting sessions all week and weddings on the weekend didn’t leave me with the greatest work/life balance.

If you currently have a service-based business, you knooooow the struggle!

To build a sustainable business, I knew I had to build a business that allowed me to do what I loved while not giving away all my time. I wanted to be able to spend more with the people I loved.

PASSIVE INCOME (With Digital Products)

Eventually, I started selling digital products. (think downloadable digital products). This can be anything from an ebook, a digital backdrop, online courses, presets, or templates. And this really opened my eyes to a new kind of income. PASSIVE INCOME.

This allowed me to focus on creating one digital product that I could sell over and over again while spending more time at home with my little ones.

I’ve created over 700 digital products over the years but am most known for my preset collections made for professional photographers and creatives looking to elevate their photography.

TIP: If your business doesn’t currently have this kind of income, I highly recommend adding it because it really makes such a big difference when you’re just one person who’s constantly dependent on selling their service or one of a kind products. And it might be a whole lot easier to add than you might think. This doesn’t mean you have to flip your entire business around. Look at it as a new income addition to your already established business.

REACCURING PASSIVE INCOME

With a CRM Software

Over the last five years, I also built a CRM software called The Essential Studio Manager with my husband. (This company was recently acquired ?). But just like my digital products that generated passive income, it collected monthly payments from active users for using the CRM. Photographers use it to manage all aspects of their business with one tool that’s really easy to use.

It’s just like regular passive income, but it repeats monthly for as long as the customer continues using the software.

REACCURING PASSIVE INCOME

Digital Membership/Subscription

I launched Wordsmith in 2021, a digital subscription-based company that generates; you guessed it…passive recurring income by providing monthly professional social media captions for entrepreneurs looking to connect with more clients and customers online.

Are you seeing a trend yet?

Being 10+ years in, I’ve done many different things, everything from service-based, softwares, memberships, and digital products. I have some big ideas for the future that will continue focusing on creating products and services to help entrepreneurs with their businesses.

Today, about 90% of my focus is on creating resources that generate passive income and 10% on one-off service-based services.

A complete swap from when I first started, and 100% of my income came from being hired for one service.

But you know what the best part is, aside from being able to spend my time working on projects that I love and having more time to spend with my family?

Taking a portion of our income and sponsoring children through Save the Children, one of my favorite non-profits. There’s a special connection with each child, and we have a big binder of photos, letters, and a big world map we’ve used to mark our sponsored children’s locations. Each time we add a new sponsored child to our list, my oldest son helps me with the process.

Although I do many different things, at the core of my business, I want to create something that has a positive impact around the world. Have that be by helping business owners or sponsoring more children around the world.

I hope this quick article gave you some insight into the income you could make with your business. Remember – consider passive income as an addition to your already established business.

7 Clever Tips for Writing a Great Blog Posts

Writing a blog post can be very rewarding, but it can also be time-consuming and daunting if you’re not sure how to go about writing one that will keep readers engaged. These 7 tips for writing a great blog post will help you get started on your next blog piece, whether it’s informational, personal, or promotional in nature. The tips below are designed to help you develop new blogging skills, grow your current audience, and make more money from blogging overall.

KEYWORDS

When writing your post, think about what keywords and key phrases people might use to find your post in search engines. Then include those terms. Every time someone searches Google using one of these terms, they will see your page in their results. Make sure you’re using SEO-friendly language, too: make sure each sentence is between 15 and 25 words long (Google’s sweet spot), and focus on providing value to your readers.

TITLE

Keep your title clear and easy to understand. Use important keywords or key phrases to help your website show up in search results. Make sure that you are targeting keywords on a page-by-page basis; that way you get better visibility within search results. Stay concise: Use crisp, clear language in your posts so people can understand them without spending time decoding them.

CREATE AN OUTLINE

One of the most important things to consider when writing is outlining. It will help you organize your thoughts and keep you on track. It’s easier to write an entire piece if you know where you’re going beforehand. So create an outline using whatever method works best for you, whether it be bullet points or mind mapping. Just make sure it’s comprehensive enough that when you begin writing, you don’t feel lost or unsure about what direction to take in each section.

BEST BLOG POST LENGTH

Depending on your goals, you’ll likely have different word-count guidelines to follow. While most posts fit somewhere between 500 and 1,500 words. Set your own benchmarks by keeping in mind what makes sense for readers based on the topic. If you find yourself consistently writing longer pieces, consider breaking your articles into smaller articles.

WRITE A GOOD FIRST SENTENCE

A good first sentence can hook readers and get them excited about reading your article. To start off your post, set a scene or grab attention with an interesting quote. If your blog post will educate them on something, explain to them the importance of learning about what you’ll be writing about. Keep it simple; make sure that it’s relevant to your content and fits in with your topic.

BONUS TIP: It’s also a good idea to include your keyword, key phrase, or title in your first paragraph.

FIND IMAGES THAT ENHANCE YOUR TOPIC

Images can add visual interest to your post and help you share more information in less space. Before inserting an image into your post, ask yourself if it enhances your topic. Does it increase understanding? Is it too obvious or redundant? Images should complement your text, not overshadow it. Always use images responsibly: pay attention to copyrights and don’t just use any image you find online.

If you’re looking for great stock photos to use, there are over 3 million incredible stock photos available on Wordsmith. It’s been my go-to every time!

BONUS TIP: Edit the alt tag and description for each image used in the blog post.

PREVIEW YOUR WORK BEFORE PUBLISHING

After you’ve written your first draft, give it an hour or two, and then come back to read it. Read it like someone who knows nothing about your niche would; put yourself in their shoes. As you scan through what you’ve written, ask yourself how you feel about it: Is there anything that doesn’t make sense? Anything you wouldn’t click on if it was shared on social media? Anything you skimmed over quickly because of confusing language? Fix these problems and preview again. Rinse and repeat until satisfied with the end result.

PUBLISH AND SHARE

Once you’ve got your post, publish it! Social media sites like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram make it easy to send out posts that people will see. If you use a social media management site, you can even schedule your posts in advance to ensure they go out at optimal times.

SEND OUT A NEWSLETTER

If you have a newsletter, be sure to send it to your readers. Not only will you serve them great content, but you’ll also get them to come visit your site, which is great for traffic.

Blogging is one of my favorite ways to create evergreen content and serve great content that brings people to my site. The best thing about blogging is that if it’s done right, you’ll boost your overall site traffic long-term and connect with more ideal customers and clients who are looking for exactly what you have to offer.

Unlike social media, blogging and SEO is something you can continue to build upon and truly count on. People will always use search engines to find what they are looking for online. Although we can’t control the rules and algorithms on social media, we can blog consistently and start getting long-term traffic from our efforts.

BONUS TIP: Grab a notebook or open a file on your computer where you can add blog post ideas that you might want to write in the future. I have a list of about 60+ articles I’d love to create over time. When I’m ready to write for my blog, I simply open that file, pick a topic, and get to writing. Having a long list of ideas to pick from makes it easy for me to add new content consistently.

9 Steps to Writing Great Social Media Captions

Social media captions are like the cover of a book; it’s the first thing people see and what draws them in. With just one or two sentences, you can get your audience to lean in closer to hear what you have to say next. So why not put some time into crafting the best captions possible? This guide will show you how to write great social media captions, so your content stands out on social media feeds. Here are nine steps on how to write great social media captions that can help you reach more people on social media than ever before.

1) CREATE CAPTIONS WITH INTENTION

Before you even start writing, make sure you have an intention behind every caption. If you’re sharing content from other platforms, it’s important that your caption is focused on two things: prompting users to engage with your original piece of content and driving them back to your website or social media channel. Think about how people interact with captions—then share that level of engagement with your followers.

2) ALWAYS WRITE LIKE YOU’RE TALKING TO ONE PERSON

It may sound silly, but it’s true: When you write on social media, think of your audience as one person. Instead of writing for thousands of people, you’re writing for one individual—and everything you say will speak directly to them. Put yourself in their shoes when you write—will they find it engaging? Does it resonate with them? When in doubt, just pretend like you’re writing a letter to a good friend.

3) PUT THE MOST THOUGHT INTO THE FIRST SENTENCE

The first sentence of your post is arguably more important than any other, so take some time to really think about it. Brainstorming ideas for different types of captions can help you come up with something really good. You want readers to be drawn in by what they read and not just click away because they aren’t interested. That first sentence should grab their attention and compel them to read further. This will help boost engagement throughout social media as well as within search engines that often favor content that has higher engagement levels.

4) KEEP PARAGRAPHS SHORT AND SWEET

If you want them to keep reading what you have to say, try breaking up your posts into shorter paragraphs. The result will be a post that is easy to read and helps you get your point across clearly. As someone who likes to write, keeping it short has always been a struggle, but I’ve also found a lot of success in just writing from the heart. So if you’re like me, don’t worry if not every post you put up isn’t a quick read. Just be sure to break it up a bit to make it easier to read.

5) ESTABLISH A CONSISTENT BRAND VOICE

There’s no such thing as one-size-fits-all when it comes to social media. The tone and language people and companies choose to use online will vary greatly; I’ve always found it’s important to stay true to what comes naturally to you. As much as I can appreciate people online who have a fun, witty way of writing, keeping things more professional and direct has worked best for me. Stay true to who you are and what comes easiest to you regarding tone and voice.

6) END IT IN A QUESTION, PROMPT OR CALL TO ACTION

Your Instagram caption should focus on storytelling. Remember, people come to your feed because they’re looking for something interesting and fun. The last thing you want is for them to hit next and go somewhere else because you couldn’t keep their attention long enough for them to read your entire caption. Try to include a question at the end of the post. Give them something to do once they get done reading your caption. It’s also a really great way to boost engagement and create a two-way conversation online.

7) TELL A STORY (AND MAKE IT A GOOD ONE!)

The best way to catch your audience’s attention is by telling them a story. Try using personal anecdotes or stories related to your business. The more you practice telling your story, the easier it will become. Your audience will relate better with you and trust what you have to say, and enjoy reading and relating to the stories you share.

8) CHECK SPELLING AND GRAMMAR

This might seem like common sense, but you’d be surprised how many people overlook spelling and grammar. (*so guilty* ??‍♀️) The easiest way to avoid these mistakes is to ask someone else for feedback on your post before you publish it. Or take a quick minute to run your caption through Grammarly (it’s free) and my go-to tool when it comes to double-checking my written work.

9) CONSIDER HAVING A CALL TO ACTION

A call-to-action is an extremely powerful tool for connecting with readers on Instagram. A call-to-action is simply an instruction for your audience on what they should do next, like clicking on a link or subscribing to your newsletter. Call-to-actions are a great way to make a post actionable and give your content more valuable.

When it comes to social media captions you often just have a few seconds to grab someone’s attention, so use these 9 tips. Focusing on a few important elements of writing great captions can make all the difference in the engagement you see on your social media accounts.
